MUA Sammy – Trialling Favourite Products on Friends

Hey Perfectors,
I’ve decided to do a blog only post today and this post follows my decision to step out of my comfort zone and trial makeup on other people!
Last week I decided to do a friend, Sophie’s hair and makeup in preparation for her going on a big night out!
Sophie has a very different face shape to me, a different skin type and has naturally very curly hair so I was intrigued to see whether some of my skin and hair favourites would work as well on her.

Hair:

Originally my plan was to only do Sophie’s hair so I started off with that! Sophie naturally has extremely curly hair, but she had straightened it early in the day so to start off it was simply a case of straightening any kinks or bits that had naturally curled again.
To straighten her hair I used my GHD straighteners!
Sophie decided she wanted a very natural looking beach waves, nothing too curly or over the top. To achieve this look I used my favourite Bayliss Boutique Salon Soft Waves Wand as these are perfect at achieving a quick and easy beach waves look.
Once the hair was curled, I backcombed the roots on the top of her head and used to bobbi pins to hold the hair in place giving it a slight lift but still keeping it quite messy.

Makeup:

The Base:
First off I used Clinique Dramatically Different to moisturise her face.
Following that I applied the Nivea Mens Post Shave Balm to act as a primer.
Then applying my L’Oréal Lumi Magique Primer to add further glow to the skin as we wanted to achieve a flawless base.

The Skin:
For the Foundation I decided to use my High Street favourite L’Oréal True Match but as Sophie has recently come back from holiday her skin was a little darker than my foundation.
My trick to darkening my foundation is gradually adding droplets of the Maybelline Dream Bronze BB Cream to your regular foundation until the colour is the perfect match.
Then for under eye concealer I applied my trust Naked Weightless Skin concealer to brighten her under eyes.
The trick with a naturally rounder face is to not drag your under eye concealer to the edges of your face, it elongates your complexion if you stop just before the tail of your brow.
Although Sophie in places has naturally drier skin I decided to set her under eye concealer with the RCMA No Colour Powder as the Naked Skin concealer tends to crease on all skin types.

Bronzer and Highlight:
To start off I used my Clinique Contour Chubby Stick to carve out Sophie’s cheek bones, applying it straight onto the skin and blending out with my Real Technique Bold Metals Blush Brush.
Then using the Kiko Flawless Fusion Bronzer directly on top of the Contour Stick and blended it up towards her forehead and underneath her jaw bone. Unlike me, Sophie does not have a large forehead so there was no need to bronze up her temple area to narrow her forehead.
Then on to my favourite part HIGHLIGHT! For highlight I used my trusty Revolution Rose Gold 2 palette using the pale pink highlight shade mixed with the pale cream shade. This created an absolutely gorgeous striking highlight which both of us love! I applied this to the tops of her cheek bones, the bridge of her nose and her cupids bow.

Eyes and Brows:
Sophie has naturally a lot lighter hair then me so I needed to accommodate that when sculpting her brows. I used an oldie but a goodie: Anastasia Beverly Hills Dip Brow Pomade in Soft Brown, using my ABH Duo Brow Brush #12.
The eyeshadow look was using only my Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette as I have been living for this palette over the last month and Sophie had never used it.
I first applied a base so the eyeshadow would last longer, that was my Soft Ochre Paint Pot by MAC. To set that primer in place I used the shade White Chocolate from the Chocolate Bar palette.
In the crease: Salted Carmel and Milk Chocolate
Brow Bone: Champagne Truffle
Lid Colour: Marzipan
Outer corners:Semi Sweet, Triple Fudge and Gilded Ganache.

Finally onto Lips:
Both of us absolutely love a MAC Lipliner so I decided to use my trusty MAC Soar to line her outer lips making them look fuller and more shaped, then filled in her entire lip as well. Lastly using the NYX Liquid Suede in Baby doll all over the lip.

Have fun recreating the look!
